Indianapolis Colts v San Diego Chargers

As a Charger fan, this week has been a strange one. I feel this odd combination of excitement, shock and hesitation! With the Chargers advancing to the next round after sticking it to the Colts in overtime last week- of course I am excited! How could I not be!! However, after an 8-8 regular season record the fact that we made it to the playoffs and then to the second round to face the Steelers- I am in shock! And then a week of injuries, doubtful starts, a forecast of 20 degree weather, oh yes and a suspicion of DUI charge- (What the heck is a suspicion of DUI charge anyway? Either you were of you weren’t. Right?) I am hesitant! But being a tried and true Charger fan since my teenage years and seeing them through MANY ups and downs (OK, many more downs than ups) I am choosing to stick with the feeling of excitement! Our boys are one game away from returning to the AFC Championship Game! How frickin’ cool is that! They may be from So Cal but they can still play in the cold with the best of them! And as much as I dig LT, throughout the season the team has shown that they have other very valuable resources (when they choose to call plays to utilize them effectively!) Like I have said for awhile now, anything is possible!

Two weeks ago, when the Chargers beat the Broncos, everything changed. The regular season ended and playoffs began-where everything starts anew. But without that game, we would not be here. So as a result, last Saturday and now this Sunday we do our best to replicate the events (in our house) from the night San Diego beat Denver. I wonder if the friends that we had over for dinner that night knew what they were in for…they now must return to our house each week to not only watch the game, but also participate in some newly established rituals that stemmed from that fateful evening! So this Sunday afternoon, the over confident gloating, jersey swapping (unwashed of course!), hat trading ritual will continue…for fear of feeling responsible for a Chargers loss!

On a couple of side notes…I saw that the Cowboys released Pacman Jones. Who will pick him up next? My money is on Al Davis!

And I thought this was great!!  Talk about celebrating being the biggest looser- here’s to you Detroit Lions! The Perfect Season
