Gear Up For The 2008 NFL Playoffs

The Non-Playoff Match Up I Want to See: Lions vs. Chiefs

Detroit Lions v Green Bay Packers

I think the two worst teams from each conference should have to play a game during the playoffs. Something during the week and at a crappy, cold location without amenities like 2 star hotels. The complete opposite of the NFL All Star game. Maybe they play in Canada on some frozen tundra with the extra large field.

There would be:
- no heaters
- no padded benches
- no trainers
- no pay
- no one to give you water… “ahhh, but my water giver”
- no headsets
- no instant replay

You might ask:  “why?”

It irks me that players and teams get to roll over and coast if they are out of the playoffs. Currently, there is no retribution. As a matter of fact. you are rewarded with the top pick in the draft. There is no incentive to play hard. I think there should be some form of punishment for sucking that bad. I think the winner of the match up should get the top pick in the draft. I think if players didn’t show up or didn’t play hard they get fined $250k. The fan’s votes would determine if you played hard and that money would go straight to a local charity.
Plus the mere thought of Detroit going 0-17 would be an awesome feat the may not be surpassed ever. Like how the ‘72 Dolphins are always yapping, but the opposite. Both ends of the spectrum have been accomplished and met.

This would make me smile.

I wonder what the over-under would be on that one....

Due to the sub-zero temps they would suffer, I'd put it at 29.

I'd call Chiefs 14, Lions 3....Yeah, I'd take the under.

I like the idea about playing for the #1 pick. Or the worst team in the league can play the #1 ranked college team. I've always wanted to see how bad NFL teams compare with the best college teams.
  • Chiefs easily in this one.

Yeah, I think the Crimson Tide could totally take the Lions.
